Christmas Day 2011 at Jackson Hill

There was just enough snow for thin but acceptable conditions on Sunday for skiiing in the fields and on the flat trails under the hardwoods. It was scratchy and I had to walk under the fir and hemlock canopy but there was a nice frozen leaves base under the two inches of powder for some decent sliding.
At Jackson Hill you are not only fortunate to be at 1550 ft elevation with coverage when it is bare in Barneveld and Trenton, but your soil is so rock-free compared to many other locations in the Northeast! And being right off Route 12, there are no long local roads to negotiate after having come over 225 miles on interstates!
A very Merry Christmas indeed.

Thanks for your comments, Mark. We will begin grooming as soon as we get a bit more snow. Sorry there wasn't more for you for this Christmas week. We are all a bit disappointed, but looking forward to some significant drops soon!
